Audrey Tatou To Play Fashion Icon Coco Chanel In New Biopic

Cannes, France (AHN) - Audrey Tautou, who is probably best known for starring opposite Tom Hanks in "The Da Vinci Code," is set to take on a French role as fashion designer Coco Chanel - real name Gabrielle Chanel.

The film, which has yet to begin production, will focus on Chanel's upbringing and her life prior to fashion stardom, says the French director, Anne Fontaine.

In an interview with Le Film Francais movie journal, Fontaine said, "I wanted to follow the interior path of this young woman who was poor, without education, but who had an uncommon personality that was ahead of her time."
